Black Knights' close call... Well, maybe that's stretching it a bit, but the story goes like this... (This bit is second hand) The guys took off from a field somewhere. On rotate, the pilot and passengers (about six skydivers) felt a hard 'thump'. The only thing to do was as the pilot did...climb! The wings were still on, he seemed to have full control, so up, up, and...lets figure this out when we get some height (the pilot's best friend). On looking around, it was found that a maingear leg had been smashed off! The pilot climbed out to a sensible height over (I presume) the dropzone, and his mates got out. (I can just imagine that...my mates leaving me to cope...;-) The pilot then (this is where we at Barton started to listen to this amazing tale...live via airband. The pilot flew over the Swinton interchange for a long time, to burn off fuel. Then, as he called to join the pattern at Barton, the 'Bizzy chopter' came out to look (and to take some vid for AAIB, I assume, in case it went all tit's up). He called final, camerass were rolling....and this vid was taken. It's not mine, and anyone who wants it taken down is a dick. We can all learn from this one... keep your cool, remember your training, and just doo-oo-oo it! Kudos to the pilot, top job! Skysurfer.
